Boulder County sets 2026 IDD awards

Jan 16, 2026

Boulder County has announced plans to distribute $3.9 million in 2026 through its voter-approved Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Mill Levy. The funding will support local nonprofit organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injuries.

The IDD Mill Levy was first approved by voters in 2002 and continues to provide supplemental resources for services that are not fully covered by state or federal programs.

2026 funding overview

The $3.9 million in 2026 Mill Levy awards will be distributed across 11 organizations. These recipients include providers and programs spanning:

  • Adaptive recreation programs

  • Health services

  • Community-based support providers

By directing funds to multiple service types, Boulder County’s IDD Mill Levy awards are positioned to support a range of local needs for people with disabilities.

Key award highlights

Among the 2026 awards, the largest allocation was $2,534,744, awarded to the Developmental Disabilities Center (Imagine!). The full set of 2026 awards extends beyond a single organization. With funding spread across 11 organizations, the Mill Levy continues to function as a local funding stream for nonprofits delivering direct supports and community-based services.

Service impact and funding source

Boulder County’s IDD Mill Levy awards are intended to help maintain access to services that support people with disabilities in everyday life. The awards help sustain services that enable individuals to:

  • Live independently

  • Participate in their communities

  • Receive consistent, high-quality support

The IDD Mill Levy is funded through a voter-approved property tax. Boulder County describes this structure as a way to address local service gaps while strengthening long-term community support systems for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injuries.
