BrightSpring completes ResCare sale to Sevita

BrightSpring announced it has completed the sale of ResCare Community Living to Sevita, expanding Sevita’s footprint in IDD community living. BrightSpring said the transition is designed to prioritize continuity of care, operational stability, and opportunity for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the workforce supporting them.

BrightSpring framed the divestiture as a continuity-driven transition for people served through ResCare Community Living and for the direct care workforce. The company described the handoff as centered on maintaining stability while supporting opportunity for individuals with IDD and staff. In its announcement, BrightSpring also highlighted ResCare’s multistate history delivering person-centered services.

BrightSpring said the sale aligns with its broader strategic focus shifts. The company emphasized a continued focus on pharmacy and provider services as it moves forward following the divestiture of ResCare Community Living. The company’s statements positioned the sale as part of a portfolio realignment while acknowledging the operational role ResCare has played across multiple states in person-centered service delivery.

Sevita’s CEO said the organization is welcoming ResCare, and pointed to the addition as a way to increase scale, enhance programming, and strengthen Sevita’s ability to “innovate service delivery.”

The acquisition brings ResCare Community Living under Sevita’s operations and expands Sevita’s presence in IDD community living, with Sevita signaling that increased scale and programming enhancements are central to its plans for the combined platform.
