Golisano Autism Hub opens in Florida

Nov 25, 2025

The Golisano Autism Community Hub has officially opened in Cape Coral, bringing a new center of training, support, and education for children on the autism spectrum and their families. The facility, operated by Family Initiative, Inc., is located on the Thrive Academy campus and represents a major expansion of autism resources in Southwest Florida.

The project was funded in part by a $5 million gift from the Golisano Foundation, which provided the financial foundation needed to build and launch the hub. The new facility includes dedicated space for professional development, continuing education, and hands-on training to help educators and families better understand and support children with autism.

During the opening event, leaders emphasized the importance of building community and reducing isolation among families. One parent described the impact of Family Initiative’s programs by noting that before connecting with the organization, families often felt alone in navigating the challenges of supporting a child with autism.

Located at 734 SW 4th Street, the hub marks the first phase of a broader expansion effort planned by Family Initiative. Future phases are expected to extend services across the region and deepen support for autism-related programming. Learn more about Family Initiative here.
