Oregon raises PSW mileage rate

Jan 28, 2026

The Oregon Office of Developmental Disabilities Services (ODDS) has issued a mileage reimbursement update that takes effect January 1, 2026. The change updates the rate used for Personal Support Worker (PSW) mileage reimbursement, while keeping other mileage rules and limits in place. For providers and agencies supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), the update is a planning item for 2026 service payments and the associated budgets and authorizations.

ODDS’ update includes a rate increase for PSWs and no rate change for agency providers:

  • PSW mileage reimbursement increases from $0.56 to $0.70 per mile.

  • Agency provider mileage reimbursement remains at $0.56 per mile.

These rates apply beginning January 1, 2026, as stated in the ODDS update. ODDS’ existing mileage limit is not changing with the 2026 rate update. The policy continues to maintain a monthly mileage cap of 1,071 miles per individual. This unchanged cap remains a key parameter when reviewing how mileage is accounted for in service delivery and reimbursement calculations.

ODDS identifies specific planning impacts tied to the higher PSW mileage reimbursement rate. The updated PSW rate must be reflected in service and payment planning for 2026:

  • The higher PSW mileage rate must be included when calculating total service payments in individual plans of care.

  • Agencies should ensure budgets and authorizations reflect the updated rate starting with 2026 plans.
