Wood County expands remote supports at TwinTech

Dec 8, 2025

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities has issued a new Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to expand its remote support services at the TwinTech 2.0 model home. Released on October 27, 2025, this RFQ seeks a certified provider to manage assistive technology installation, monitoring, and support within the tech-enabled residence located in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Expanding the TwinTech initiative

Originally launched in 2019, TwinTech 2.0 serves as a demonstration site showcasing advanced assistive technology designed to promote greater independence and safety for individuals with developmental disabilities. The home features over 90 assistive devices and has hosted more than 1,500 tours and 17 trial stays, allowing users to experience remote support solutions firsthand.

The expansion reflects a strategic commitment to institutionalize the initiative beyond a pilot project. By contracting a certified provider, the Board aims to establish ongoing remote monitoring and technical support, including overnight coverage primarily on weekends. The provider will also participate in team meetings and public tours, and offer assistive technology consultations, further integrating these supports within a coordinated care framework.

Implementation timeline and impact

Applications for the RFQ are due by November 20, 2025, with provider interviews scheduled for early December. A provider announcement is expected in mid-December, and the contracted services will commence on January 1, 2026. TwinTech 2.0 also functions as a collaborative site for education and community outreach, partnering with entities such as the Wood County Educational Service Center Living Classroom. This broader role underscores its mission to combine housing innovation with accessible programming and demonstration efforts.

For IDD providers and agencies, Wood County’s approach offers a replicable model for integrating remote support technologies within Medicaid and HCBS frameworks. As remote monitoring gains traction, TwinTech highlights practical strategies to enhance resident safety and autonomy through certified technology support services.
